Welcome to downtown San Antonio! Our downtown has many wonderful areas of interest, such as the Alamo and the River Walk, the two most visited sites in Texas. With so many visitors, residents, and workers who frequent downtown, Centro San Antonio’s Amigos work hard to make downtown cleaner, greener, and friendlier.
We invite you to enjoy downtown and to call on us when you have a need. You’ll always have a friend with the Centro San Antonio Amigos. Ambassador Amigos are downtown’s public service representatives. They assist not only visitors, but downtown residents and workers as well. They are “in-the-know” regarding the events taking place in downtown. They have a comprehensive knowledge of directions and downtown’s history. Maintenance Amigos are responsible for the cleanliness of downtown’s streets. They sweep sidewalks, pick-up bags of trash, power wash areas, remove graffiti, weeds, and much more. Cleanliness can affect a person’s perception of downtown, and these maintenance services help provide that extra level of attention that downtown deserves. Streetscaping Amigos install and maintain plants on light poles, stair rails, and in large terra-cotta clusters located throughout downtown. The light pole planters help soften the street right-of-way, and give it a feeling of a more natural environment. Stair rail planters help provide a more attractive transition between the street and the already lush river level. The large terra cotta planter clusters fill what are otherwise void areas on sidewalks and street corners. All of this vegetation adds to the experience of downtown as a livable urban center of commerce and relaxation. All Amigos are equipped with two-way radios that they use to contact each other and the Operations Center. From the Operations Center, any number of local authorities such as downtown’s security forces can be reached to render assistance. The Downtown Alliance of San Antonio helped create |
